We have restructured our Infrastructure and Development team following a thorough service review and have created a new leadership opportunity for a Manager Engineering & Works. Job Description

As our new Manager Engineering & Works you will provide professional leadership to our Engineering Services and Works teams. You will manage the development and execution of technical strategies and plans for municipal infrastructure, including traffic management, drainage systems, public transport, road hierarchy, and path network, oversee the development and delivery of council and grant-funded capital works programs and manage subdivision processes to ensure compliance with development conditions. You will establish and maintain optimal service delivery levels and provide technical input to support organisational decision making, enhancing technical precision and consistency in outcomes.

Your professional and consistent approach will see you build and grow our Engineering and Works teams and foster a collaborative approach towards achieving organisational objectives. Your flexible communication style will ensure you build productive relationships with staff and stakeholders for the benefit of the community.

To be considered for this role you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership and managerial expertise
  • Experience and/or qualifications in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in the management of civil infrastructure construction projects and maintenance programs
  • Understanding of civil design and/or construction
  • Knowledge of asset management in a local government context
  • Thorough understanding Workplace Health and Safety legislation and practices 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including report writing 
  • Strong computer skills
  • Familiarity with relevant Australian Standards, MRWA standards, Traffic Management.

Qualifications in project management and experience in strategic infrastructure planning, road network management, and the use of design tools (eg. AutoCAD/Microstation, GIS and asset management software will be highly regarded.
